“Call the match” and more!
At the International Tennis Hall of Fame, find a unique adventure into the world of tennis for kids of all ages. The interactive displays and exhibits are designed to make the museum experience fun, combining hands-on experience with technology. From a touch-screen table where kids can “volley” tennis trivia to each other, to “Call the Match,” where kids can record themselves taking on the role of broadcasters, there’s something for everyone (for both seasoned tennis fans and new ones, alike)! Don’t miss the hologram of tennis superstar Roger Federer, who greets all visitors! Open every day except Tuesdays. Admission: $15 adults; free for children under 16

The South County History Center Museum, located in the Old Washington County Jail, is sure to excite imaginations because kids can actually go into the jail cells! The historic site started operations during the late 1700s as a jail, and now it is a museum and exhibit space! Have fun seeing historic artifacts and photos, and explore the interior of the cells. Open Thursdays and Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a museum shop and exhibit space. Admission: $8 adults; $6 students (K-college)

New! Journey to Mars Planetarium Show
NASA wants you to be part of the ‘Journey to Mars’ to extend the frontiers of human exploration, gaze across alien landscapes and see our Sun rise over new horizons. Take a ride to the outer-limits, then return to Earth to gaze into the night sky to see what is visible thoughout the year. This new show uses the full dome system and Zeiss star projector. Admission: $3 per person (includes museum admission); children under age 4 are not permitted in the planetarium. Public planetarium shows are offered at 2pm every Saturday and Sunday
April Vacation Week!
Making plans for the upcoming April school vacation week? Blithewold Mansion, Gardens & Arboretum is offering a fun-filled week of camp during April Vacation. Mission Moon Family Fun
Solar System Week, at the Roger Williams Museum of Natural History & Planetarium, explores Earth and beyond during April school vacation with a new planetarium show and a slew of activities, including: build a Mars rover, be a rocket scientist and design a space craft, discover what it takes to go into space, fun crafts, special Mission Space museum quest and prizes. Admission: Free with museum admission ($2).
Mad Mike’s “Meteorite or Meteor-Wrong”
3-2-1 Blast off into space! Family fun activities, demonstrations and more when you visit the Roger Williams Museum of Natural History & Planetarium during April school vacation. Each day during the afternoon, bring your kids for some hands-on adventure at “Mad Mike’s.” Kids can hold a space rock in their hands, learn all about meteorites, and compare the characteristics of space rocks and Earth rocks. Admission: Free with museum admission ($2). From April 17 through April 21; 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. everyday.
Take a walk on the wild side
See where scoundrels lived, pirates profited and criminals were punished on an engaging stroll through historic streets with Newport History Walking Tours. These family-friendly excursions work for those with little ones in strollers as well as older kids curious about dastardly deeds of the city’s early residents. Discover why this colony was known as “Rogue’s Island” during the engaging Rogues & Scoundrels tour. Admission: $15 per person; $10 for Newport Historical Society members. Plants and animals, oh my!
More than 5,000 tulips are in bloom at Green Animals Topiary Garden, which will open for the season two weeks ahead of schedule! See the early spring garden with its explosion of color, discover all kinds of animals, and see the gardeners at work crafting huge sculptures from trees! Think: elephants, bears, and giraffes. Garden open daily 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Brayton Estate opens May 20. Admission: Purchase tickets via Newport Mansions website (link below).
Plant sale at Green Animals Topiary Garden
This annual plant sale is the perfect place to see a garden explode with color and the imaginative gardeners of Green Animals Topiary at work crafting huge creatures from trees! Admission to the garden will be free on the day of the plant sale and there’s no better place to get flowers and vegetables for your home garden (or a Mother’s Day seedling bouquet!)
